The Locarno Film Festival has announced the full line-up and juries for its 75th edition, which is due to unfold August 3-13.

International celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s company is seeking chefs, home cooks and ‘foodie influencers’ in Northern Ireland to sign up for a new television cookery series with a £100,000 cash prize and access to what is described as “mentorship that money can’t buy”. He’s challenging cooks here to bid for a place in Next Level Chef, a new television competition in which 12 talented chefs, home cooks and other foodie enthusiasts will be challenged to create what the top chef describes as “phenomenal next level dishes” in “what can only be described as a demanding culinary gauntlet”.

EXCLUSIVE: Nat Geo is expanding the Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted franchise with spinoff series Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted Showdown. The new three-part series, which also will feature Ramsay’s daughter Tilly, will premiere at 8 pm on Monday, July 25. It will be followed by previously announced four-part series World of Flavor with Big Moe Cason at 10 pm, making for an all-culinary night.

Apple TV+ has given an eight-episode series order to a one-hour drama inspired by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edith Wharton’s unfinished final novel The Buccaneers, with Kristine Froseth (The Assistant), Alisha Boe (When You Finish Saving The World), Josie Totah (Saved by the Bell), Aubri Ibrag (Dive Club), Imogen Waterhouse (The Outpost) and Mia Threapleton (Shadows) cast as the buccaneers.

Neil Diamond has made a rare public appearance in the US to sing his hit song ‘Sweet Caroline’.Diamond sung the song at the Boston Red Sox game in the US over the weekend, four years after announcing his retirement from touring back in 2018 after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.Fans sang along enthusiastically to the song, which has been the team’s anthem since 1997. Writer/Producer/Director Theodore Melfi has a different take than those who think independent filmmaking is becoming an endangered species, and in fact he tells me right now we are in “a golden age of independent film”. That may be one of the reasons he is bullish about both films he has at this week’s Tribeca Festival in New York City – independently produced movies he is helping shepherd along. On Corner Office which stars Jon Hamm he is an Executive Producer, and on American Dreamer he is the screenwriter as well as a producer of the comedy that stars Peter Dinklage, Shirley MacLaine, and Matt Dillon. Both are for sale and the bottom line is Melfi truly believes the audience will dictate whatever the perfect form of distribution is, whether it be theatrical, streaming, digital VOD, or a combination of all three.
