Emmerdale fans were left in shock this week following the show’s explosive hour-long episode as Meena Jutla was finally found guilty. During the latest instalment, Meena was found guilty by the jury for the murders of Ben Tucker, Andrea Tate and Leanna Cavanagh. However, unwilling to go down without a fight, Meena took her sister Manpreet Sharma hostage outside of the courtroom.
But while the on-screen sisters may be far from having a close relationship, with Manpreet declaring, “I wish you'd never been born!”, it turns out that the actresses’ off-screen friendship is as close as you can get. In an interview with OK! last October, Paige Sandhu, who plays Meena, opened up about her “really close bond” with her on-screen sister.
Despite filming restrictions preventing her from meeting some of her fellow cast members, Paige explained that she’d been able to become close to Rebecca Sarker, who plays Manpreet. “I still don’t know a lot of people in the cast because we’ve not been allowed in the same scenes. But I’ve got a really close bond with Rebecca,” the actress said.
She added: “We have the same sense of humour and are very similar. We’re both quite private, low-key people who are more introverted than extroverted. “She’s also a really kind and welcoming person.
We just had an instant relationship that was really easy to build upon. “She’s my closest friend at Emmerdale and that really helps with portraying that sisterly bond.” And after it was revealed that Paige would be leaving the hit ITV soap regardless of which way the trial went, Rebecca told Digital Spy that she was going to miss her colleague.
