The 54th NAACP Image Awards will air on Saturday, February 25 at 8 PM (live ET/PT on delay) on BET from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, CA, the network and civil rights organization said Tuesday. And, for the first time in three years, the show will be in front of an audience.
The NAACP Image Awards celebrates the outstanding achievements and performances of people of color across categories spanning film, television, streaming, music, literature and podcasts.
The show has added three new submission categories within the motion picture, television and streaming categories, for Outstanding Hairstyling, Make-Up and Costume Design.
“Throughout the past year, we’ve witnessed Black artists showcasing our history and uplifting values of progressive change, while redefining genres and bringing our stories to the forefront of entertainment in so many innovative ways,” said Derrick Johnson, President and CEO of the NAACP. “Black voices are necessary to continually inspire audiences around the world. We’re proud to once again provide a platform that both elevates and celebrates these voices through the 54th NAACP Image Awards.”

CBS has ordered its first series for the 2023-04 season. It’s The Never Game, a new drama series that will star and be executive produced by Justin Hartley.
A date has been set for the third and final season of Wu-Tang: An American Saga. The streamer will drop the first three episodes of the season on Wednesday, February 15 with new episodes following every Wu-Wednesday. The final episode will be available on April 5, 2023.
A date has finally been set for the return of Party Down, the revival of the cult comedy series from 2009-10. Starz will debut the laugher at midnight on Friday, February 24 on its app and streaming platforms. Its linear debut is set for later that night at 9 PM ET/PT on Starz.
Eugene Levy is ready to hit the road. Apple TV+ announced today that its Levy-hosted show The Reluctant Traveler will premiere globally on February 24, 2023.
The movie honorees received their flowers last month and this morning, Film Independent revealed the highly anticipated television nominees for the 2023 Film Independent Spirit Awards. Four programs took three nominations each: “Abbott Elementary,” “The Bear,” “Severance” and “Station Eleven.” In the Best Scripted Series category, the latter three were joined by “The Porter” and “Pachinko” as “Abbott” did not make the cut.

The Television Publicity Executive Committee (TPEC) is launching its own television publicity campaign competition. The professional organization for entertainment PR executives, founded in 1992 and currently celebrating its 30th anniversary, will open the competition to all forms of programming publicity for networks, studios, streamers and agencies.
EXCLUSIVE: The NAACP production venture with CBS Studios has set up two more drama projects at CBS in its second broadcast development cycle, For Justice, from writers Sallie Patrick and Garen Thomas, which is based on the life of former NYPD Detective Katrina Brownlee; and The Pact, from writer Marcus Dalzine. They join Carver Law, from writer Aaron Carew and executive producer Martin Lawrence, which also was recently sold to CBS for development. The trio of projects span the three classic network drama genres, a cop (For Justice), medical (The Pact) and legal (Carver Law) show.

Paramount Global has announced the seven writers who will be participating Writers Mentoring Program for 2023-2023. Currently in its 19th year and helmed by the Paramount Office of Global Inclusion, the eight-month program provides mentorships, access and opportunity for writers.
