Idris Elba rules out James Bond as a future character for himself: 'I'm not going to be that guy'

We’ve literally been talking about who is going to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond in the film franchise for years now. Ever since it was announced that Craig was going to leave the role after last year’s “No Time to Die,” fans have been desperately trying to figure out who Barbara Broccoli and the other producers of the franchise would choose to carry the mantle as 007.

An interview with TV and film heartthrob Idris Elba was thrown into chaos on The One Show, with host Alex Jones joking about the sound problems. Alex was interviewing Luther star Idris, 50, via a video link-up about his new film Luther: The Fallen Sun.

He's known for playing suave Secret Service agent James Bond, but Pierce Brosnan traded in his signature slicked back strands for something a little more scruffy. The 69-year-old actor was spotted wearing a gray wig with tendrils cascading down to his shoulders while walking on set of his latest film, "Four Letters of Love." Brosnan stars alongside Helena Bonham Carter and Gabriel Bryne in the romantic flick, based on the Niall Williams bestselling novel of the same name. Pierce stayed warm underneath a dark blue knit sweater in addition to a heavy trench coat.

“Luther: The Fallen Sun” comes out as the chatter about Idris Elba as James Bond has finally dissipated. A film that makes enough passes to the 007 franchise that it could easily drum up more pointless columns about the endless debate.
