James Bond, Idris Elba has been “part of the conversation” about who’ll take over from Daniel Craig as 007.Daniel Craig’s last outing as Bond was in 2021’s No Time To Die and since he announced his plans to step down from the role, there has been plenty of speculation about who’ll be the new James Bond.In a new interview with the Deadline Podcast though, producer Barbara Broccoli has responded to the various rumours that Idris Elba will be the next 007.“Well, we know Idris, we’re friends with him, and he’s a magnificent actor. And, you know, it’s been part of the conversation, but it’s always difficult to have the conversation when you have someone in the seat,” she said.“I think we have decided that until No Time to Die has had its run and Daniel has been able to – well, we’ve all been able to savour, reap the benefits of Daniel’s wonderful tenure, we’re not gonna think about, or talk about anybody else.”Previously, Broccoli has said “I think it will be a man because I don’t think a woman should play James Bond.
I believe in making characters for women and not just having women play men’s roles.“I don’t think there are enough great roles for women, and it’s very important to me that we make movies for women about women. (Bond) should be British, so British can be any [ethnicity or race].”Last year, it was reported that Idris Elba was in talks to star in the next Bond film, but as a villain. Previously Elba has said the rumours have “chased” him for some time but that he’s just happy starring in hit BBC show, Luther.
“I know the rumours about Bond have always chased me. Listen, my poor mum is like ‘One day you’re going to get it!’ I was like ‘Mum, I’m good, I’ve got Luther!’ I’m definitely doing that.”However back in
.Idris Elba had a bit of a wardrobe malfunction during his appearance at the 2022 BRIT Awards.
The BRIT Awards made a triumphant return on Tuesday 8 February, with some of today's biggest stars gracing the red carpet at the annual awards ceremony. Famous faces including Adele, Ed Sheeran, Idris Elba, and Courtney Cox were all in attendance, with comedian Mo Gilligan taking on hosting duties. Also on the star-studded guest list was singer Raye, who was nominated for two awards at this year's BRITS, including Best Dance Act.
singer Adele came on stage to accept her golden statuette, Elba placed his cue cards in front of his groin in an attempt to cover his embarrassment. The Twitterverse had a field day with jokes, memes and observations about the Marvel star’s mishap. “@BRITs someone needs to tell Idris Elba to close the front door,” a fan joked.“Why the hell are people complaining that Idris Elba’s fly was open at The Brits? They’re acting like that’s not the best possible outcome,” another added. One said, “No matter how ropey I feel today I can at least be safe in the knowledge that Idris Elba feels worse #BRITs.”Why the hell are people complaining that Idris Elba’s fly was open at The Brits? They’re acting like that’s not the best possible outcome.Other Twitter fans tried to warn Elba, writing: “@idriselba YOUR FLIES DOWN BRO #brits#brits2022.”“No one think to tell Idris Elba his flies were down before he went on stage nah #brits,” a fan noticed.
Idris Elba might have looked confident in his Gucci bomber jacket and black trousers at The Brits but the star suffered a wardrobe malfunction on stage.
As the Oscars wrestle with grabbing a larger millennial audience, the dissing of tentpoles in the Best Picture category continues this year. In addition to AMPAS voters overlooking the sixth highest grossing movie ever at the global box office, Sony/Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home ($1.77 billion) for Best Picture, they also snubbed Daniel Craig’s swan song as James Bond in MGM/UAR/Eon’s No Time to Die in that slot as well.
Daniel Craig may be done with James Bond, but his next franchise is well and truly already established. Having portrayed Detective Benoit Blanc in Rian Johnson's Knives Out, the No Time To Die star returns for another murder mystery as the Southern gentlemen. Untitled Knives Out 2 was shot on the Greek island of Spetses last summer and sees the former 007 opposite an amazing cast just like last time.
Daniel Craig and James Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson are campaigning for No Time To Die to pick up some prized gongs. But what about the next 007? The EON Productions chiefs have admitted the search will begin this year and now a trusted insider has shared what he's been hearing about the kind of star they're looking for to portray Ian Fleming's spy next. In his column, Baz Bamigboye says that "deep-cover informants have confided" in him that the stars with the biggest Bond speculation are unlikely to be considered.

James Bond, speculation continues to be rife over who Daniel Craig's successor will be after his explosive exit from the franchise in No Time To Die.
