Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt emphatically backed his captain Ricardo Santos following his error against Sheffield Wednesday and believes the Carabao Cup clash against Aston Villa gives his side a good chance to show a reaction.
Bolton's unbeaten start to the season came to an end over the weekend. They suffered a 2-0 defeat at home at the hands of the Owls.
The Whites went close to taking the lead in a tight opening half an hour which they edged against the Owls. Liverpool loanee Conor Bradley put wide from a glorious one-on-one opportunity.

And not long after that, the Owls took the lead when the visitors capitalised following a big error which nearly resulted in an own goal for Bolton skipper Santos. George Byers slotted home following that as Wanderers failed to react quickly enough.
The Owls scored a quick second not long after as Liam Palmer put them two up heading into half-time. Jack Iredale forced David Stockdale into action in the second half in perhaps the closest Wanderers came to pulling one back as they slipped to a 2-0 loss.
Evatt has backed his skipper following the error and the Bolton boss has reiterated his belief in the defender's abilities. He is confident bigger things lie in store for both Wanderers and Santos.
He said: “He’s human, he’s allowed to make mistakes, we’ll back him, we’ll pick him up and we’ll go again. We know how good he is. No-one should ever doubt how good he is, he’s fantastic and he’ll go again and we’ll go again and bigger and better things lie ahead for us both I think.
“There’s nothing we can do to change that now, that’s gone. As a club we’re not used to that
