It’s early days in the Love Island villa, and as we all know from previous series a lot can change quickly! Right now - couple Gemma Owen and Davide Sanclimenti are exploring a possible connection between them. However, not everybody is supportive of the pairing due to their age gap - Gemma is 19, while Davide is 27. One viewer tweeted, “All I can think about every time Gemma and Davide talk is the age gap and it’s hurting me”.
Luckily others have been all for it though, with one person writing, “I don't think the age gap is a problem - eight years is not a big deal.” Michelle Darlow, now 36, is also in the latter camp. The OK! Fashion, Beauty and Shoots Director met her future husband Chef Geoff at 19, when he was 27 - the exact same ages as Gemma and Davide! “The reaction to Gemma and Davide’s age gap seems quite extreme. If two people like each other and they’re both adults I really don’t see what the problem is,” says Michelle. “If they do form a relationship and have to deal with the criticism my advice would be to ignore it.They should remember that trying to find a person to navigate life with doesn’t come down to age, it’s about connection, love and respect.
I met my husband at a wedding in Jamaica where he was Best Man. We were drawn to each other and so we'd sit next to each other for meals during the week-long celebration. He was the nicest person and being around him was easy.
I fancied him so much that I would get goosebumps! By the end we were holding hands under the table and kissing in the swimming pool. Our ages were not something I remember discussing in any detail. It wasn’t a concern - I always joke with Geoff now that it’s because women are more mature and men aren’t, so we met in the middle.
