Former TOWIE star Frankie Essex gave birth to her twins, whom she shares with boyfriend Luke Love, in May and has since revealed to the world that they’ve named their little bundles of joy Logan and Luella. In her exclusive column for OK!, Frankie’s discussed a range of topics in regards to motherhood – from her first social outing with the twins and a blackout at her home when they were just a few days old, to returning to the gym and moving in with cousin Chloe Sims while their family home is being renovated. This week, Frankie talks about “feeling more human again” as the twins drop their 2am feed, and the mum community she’s found herself to be a part of since the birth of the babies.
Sleep, glorious sleep The twins have finally dropped their 2am feed. They woke up at like 5:30am this morning as they’re sleeping through now – it’s lovely. That in the middle of the night feed is hard. You just lose your sleep pattern, so it’s nice to have that bit of extra sleep. You know what I mean? When you’re up feeding them, you’re up for a good 45 minutes then it’s hard for us to fall back asleep.
I can’t just fall back asleep. Since getting some more sleep I’m definitely starting to feel a bit more human again. Getting my hair washed and blow-dried on the same day is a good thing, when before I was just letting it dry on its own [because I was so tired].
My hair’s so frizzy and curly and I just didn’t feel like me. It’s nice to get that little bit more sleep so you feel more alive. Selfcare isn’t just for Sundays I’ve 100% got that bit of extra time for some selfcare, and that’s so important – especially being a new mum.
