Manchester United's interim boss Ralf Rangnick was blocked in his attempts to sign a forward in the January transfer window.
Ahead of the Reds' trip to Brighton and Hove Albion, Rangnick admitted that he was told he would not be able to make any move to improve United's situation in the winter. Speaking about who he would have brought in, the German said: "There were a few.
"[Luis] Diaz, who is now at Liverpool, [Julian] Alvarez, who will be at Manchester City in the summer, [Dusan] Vlahovic, who at the time was still with Fiorentina. So those are just three of them that come across my mind now.

"I came back after the fourth day [off in January]. We had four days off at the time.
"I think it was a Sunday. I was informed about the issues around Mason Greenwood and obviously Anthony Martial had already left, and then I was aware that within four days we had some strikers missing and that it might make sense [to buy]."
Diaz has managed to settle into the Premier League comfortably having made the switch to Merseyside. In 10 appearances in the league he has scored three goals and grabbed two assists.
Reports also suggested that Amadou Haidara was on Rangnick's radar with United wanting to improve their defensive midfield position. Meanwhile, the soon-to-be Austria manager is a big fan of Christopher Nkunku.
With that in mind here is how the Reds could have lined up in the remainder of this campaign if Rangnick had his way.
