A house fire has broken out on a quiet street in Edinburgh, sparking a 'huge' emergency response.
The blaze started shortly before 10pm on Saturday, October 1 on Heriott Hill Terrace in the city, prompting officers from Police Scotland and hero firefighters from Scottish Fire and Rescue to rush to the scene.
Multiple cop cars were present and the area was cordoned off, with one eye-witness saying there was a "huge response" to the event, and that crews remained on site to tackle the blaze for several hours, reports EdinburghLive.
Images show several fire engines working to extinguish the flames with paramedics also on standby to offer assistance. It has been confirmed that no one was hurt as a result of the incident.
A 40-year-old man, however, has been arrested and charged in relation. A spokesperson for the force said: “Around 9.55pm on Saturday, 1 October, 2022, officers were called to reports of a fire on Herriothill Terrace, Edinburgh.
"The fire was extinguished and there were no reported injuries. A 40-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with this incident.
"He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, 3 October. A report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.”
A SFRS spokesperson added: “We were alerted at 9.49pm on Saturday, October 1 to reports of a fire within a block of flats at Heriot Hill Terrace, Edinburgh. “Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and a specialist high reach appliance to the area. Crews left after extinguishing the fire and ensuring the area was made safe.”
