‘The Phantom…’ At The Sydney Opera House Delivers The Magic: Review

You could have heard a pin drop during the gala opening night of Opera Australia’s production of The Phantom of the Opera August 26 at the Joan Sutherland Theatre at the Sydney Opera House. The audience was packed with celebrity Sydneysiders in bow ties and gowns but the real stars of the evening were Josh Piterman, Amy Manford, and Blake Bowden. This trio of truly gifted performers, surrounded by a stunning supporting cast and orchestra, powerfully delivered the musical’s signature songs, Music of the Night, Think of Me, All I Ask of You, the awesomely beautiful Masquerade, and of course the main title song, with vitality and power. This new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s mega-musical adaptation of Gaston Leroux’s novel, overseen by producer Cameron Mackintosh, and director Seth Sklar-Heyn is simply superb on every level. While the story of an obsessive and dangerous love in 19th-century Paris is now familiar to many, it’s the exquisite attention to detail which delivers the magic to this new staging. The  27-piece orchestra under the musical supervision of Guy Simpson is phenomenal, and the production is elevated even further by truly glorious stagecraft. The Phantom of the OperaThe lush costuming by Jill Parker, recreating the original designs of the late Tony award-winning Maria Bjornson is stunning, and the hair and wig design by Angela Cobbin is perfection. The lighting design by Tony Award winner Paule Constable and the sound design by Mick Potter is also extraordinary, with some terrific video and projection design by Nina Dunn. There is also a wonderful use of pyrotechnics throughout the show and of course the thrilling and iconic moment when the chandelier falls towards the heads of the audience still inspires

‘House of the Dragon’ Opening Credits Opt for ‘Game of Thrones’ Theme Over New Music (Video)

“House of the Dragon” were finally treated to the show’s opening credits sequence on Sunday night (the first episode did not have opening credits), though many were perhaps surprised to discover just how similar to the iconic “Thrones” credits this new sequence is.Indeed, the “House of the Dragon” opening credits use the theme song from the “Game of Thrones” credits (by composer Ramin Djawadi, who also scores the new show) instead of opting for a new theme, although it’s perfectly in keeping with the show’s vibe overall. While “House of the Dragon” focuses on new characters, the prequel is very much in the world of “Game of Thrones” and shares crucial DNA with the hit HBO series.Elastic, the design firm behind the iconic opening credits for “Thrones,” returned to create the credits sequence for “House of the Dragon” which makes great use of blood throughout.

'Rust' armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed's lawyer slams New Mexico's Sheriff's office over investigation

The legal team for Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer on the "Rust" set, is not happy with the New Mexico Sheriff's Department and their alleged handling of the investigation.  Gutierrez-Reed's lawyer, Jason Bowles, shared a statement with Fox News Digital on Thursday, stating: "The primary question in this case from the beginning has been where did the live rounds that ended upon the Rust set come from?" Hannah Gutierrez-Reed's lawyer shared a statement with Fox News Digital about the fatal shot fired by Alec Baldwin on set of "Rust." (Photo by Sonia Moskowitz/Getty Images) "As can be seen from the attached emails, the Sheriff’s office made a conscious decision not to pursue this question at all by refusing to ask the FBI to test any of the rounds for fingerprints or DNA," he alleged.  "We now know for certain there were live rounds on set. It is inconceivable that the Sheriff would not seek answers to this fundamental question and it raises a serious problem with the entire investigation.
