Former Hollyoaks star Alfie Browne-Sykes has opened up on his post-soap life while revealing that he hates being recognised by clients. Back in 2013, Alfie strolled onto Hollyoaks as Jason Roscoe, the twin brother of Charlie Wernham's Robbie and the half-brother of Ashley Taylor Dawson’s Darren Osbourne, Ayden Callaghan’s Joe Roscoe, Fabrizio Santino’s Ziggy Roscoe and Charlie Clapham’s Freddie Roscoe. The Roscoe brothers amassed quite a reputation thanks to their romantic dalliances and spent most of the show shirtless.
Alfie departed from the fictional Chester location in 2016 with Robbie as they ventured to Australia to live with their mum, Gillian Taylforth’s Sandy Roscoe. Following his stint on the show, Alfie got to work as a roofer while his on-screen brother Charlie continued to work in show business on projects like Bad Education, EastEnders and HBO’s The Baby.
While appearing on Joseph James’ Just Real podcast, Alfie admitted that it’s “hard” to deal with people recognising him. He explained: "Going to work every day, working on people’s roofs and them recognising you from Hollyoaks is a hard thing to deal with at first - especially when they make comments and don’t realise what they are saying to you." Following his Hollyoaks departure, Alfie worked on the Tracey Beaker spin-off Dumping Ground and also performed on stage in the drama Birdsong.
But he struggled with his mental health and experienced panic attacks as he attempted to bag another role on the TV. "I'm just trying to crack on with my acting, trying to pursue that career,” he added.
“It's a lot tougher than people think. It's a lot of waiting for the right opportunities to pop, especially with all the s*** at the minute." During his time on the show,
