A heated debate on social media has left users in knots over the "right" name for a certain sandwich.
Whether you call it a softie, sambo, butty, sarnie, or one of its many other titles, the chip sandwich is a staple of British cuisine. While it's enjoyed across the UK, Brits just can't seem to settle on one name for the tasty treat.

One comment read: "Chip butty, anything else is wrong."
But little progress was made before others questioned as to whether this is even a sandwich at all. The image shows a pile of chips in a morning roll and one person said this detail makes a "world of difference".
Purists allege that this does not constitute a sandwich as this is the wrong type of bread. "Butty is an English for sandwich, two slices of bread. This is a roll, therefore a roll & chips," wrote one staunch enthusiast, while another said: "A chip
