Police have arrested and charged 13 people in connection with drug offences after cocaine, heroin and street valium tablets worth £14,000 were seized. Officers from the Lanarkshire Proactive Crime Team targeted more than a dozen properties in Hamilton on Monday, September 26.
An unspecified quantity of drugs, with an estimated street value of £14,170, was seized alongside a four-figure sum of cash. The 13 people charged, eight men and five women aged between 22 and 59, were due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
A senior police officer has vowed to continue removing illegal substances from the streets and urged members of the public with any information to come forward.
Detective Inspector Laura Sands said: “I hope that this operation provides reassurance to those living in the local community that we will continue to act on their concerns and use every tactic at our disposal to remove these illegal substances from our street and put a stop to the misery they cause.
“The supply and distribution of controlled drugs continues to be a priority for Lanarkshire Police Division and I will seek every opportunity to target and disrupt those that are involved.
“We depend on the continued support from members of the public as they have a vital role to play in reporting information to us. I would encourage anyone with information or concerns about drugs in their local community to contact us through 101.
