Following the formal announcement of This Is Us ending with its sixth season, Dan shared with press why it was the perfect amount of episodes and time for the show to be on the air.
He told The Hollywood Reporter years before that “We never set out to make a television series that was going to last 18 seasons, so we have a very direct plan.”
Just recently, Dan opened up about the decision again.
“It’s not because we don’t have any more story to tell,” he said during a Television Critics Association event. “It’s because we exactly planned it to go this way.”
Dan went on, “We’re on a five‑year path, and to suddenly pivot and add more because we don’t want it to end, it wouldn’t be quite responsible to the show and what we have planned, and it would start becoming something else.”

Winter Love Island 2020's Shaughna Phillips has dished some of Love Island's best-kept secrets, including set shower times, the rules on contestants getting their hair and nails done, and more. The 28 year old appeared on OK!'s 'Let's Chat Huns' Instagram Live today to give her opinions on the current series of Love Island, which has already gotten off to a stellar start.
Love Island's Shaughna Phillips has predicted that Gemma Owen will get back together with her ex-boyfriend Jacques O'Neill after his arrival in the Majorca villa. The 19 year old daughter of footballing legend Michael Owen was left in shock on Sunday night's episode of the popular dating show, after her rugby player ex, Jacques, 23, entered the villa. As he entered and Gemma saw him, she exclaimed: "Oh my god, that's my ex-boyfriend." Gemma and Jacques dated for around eight months, and Jacques said that it was set to be awkward between the two as they hadn't spoken for a while.
Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid has taken a slight dig at Michael Owen's daughter, Gemma, who is currently starring on this year's series of Love Island. The stunning 19 year old daughter of the former Liverpool and England football hero has dominated much of the show's storylines since entering the famous Mallorcan villa just a week ago. And on this morning's GMB, self-confessed Love Island fan Susanna, 51, questioned whether the show was actually 'Gemma Island'.
Susanna Reid had a little bit of Love Island shade to share this morning as she returned to Good Morning Britain. The presenter was back hosting the show on Monday (June 13) alongside Richard Madeley.
Hi everyone, it’s Shaughna Phillips, and I’m thrilled to announce I’m OK! ’s exclusive columnist for this year’s series of Love Island. I’m so excited the show is back – and what a brilliant first week in the villa it has been.
By Renee Lou Dallow“God was in his heaven, and there were sausages for breakfast.”Terence Davies’ new film, Benediction, is about the life, loves and the poetry of queer World War 1 British poet Siegfried Sassoon. In the film, he is asked by a military tribunal if he is pro-German, to which Siegfried played by Jack Lowden replies, “I’m pro-human.” Sassoon, a decorated war hero who became disillusioned with the endless conflict and casualties, was anti-war and spoke out against the powers of the day failing to state conditions for peace. The film then moves to another conflict – his life and struggles with his homosexuality. A long passionate affair with actor Ivor Novello (Jeremy Irvine) and a somewhat more sensitive and empathetic relationship with Stephen Tennant (Calm Lynch) follow before Sassoon marries Hester Gatty (Kate Phillips) and has a son, George (Richard Goulding).
AMC Networks’ IFC has given a thumbs-up to SisterS, a new original comedy-drama series from Sarah Goldberg (Barry) and Susan Stanley (Hotel Amenities).
