Foo Fighters’ Chris Shiflett shares new single ‘Dead And Gone’

Foo Fighters‘ guitarist Chris Shiflett has shared his latest single ‘Dead and Gone’ from his forthcoming solo album. The track, written in 2020 during the pandemic and recorded with producer Jaren Johnston of the Cadillac Three in Nashville, features Charlie Worsham on dobro and Tom Bukovac on guitar.Shiflett shared that the song is an ode to the characters and character of his Santa Barbara hometown.“My hometown was an odd mix of luxury paradise and working-class grit and continues to be a bottomless pit of lyrical inspiration,” he said. “Sad to say there’s been more than a few friends who’ve left us too soon, so there are lots of stories there, kind of a lost generation.”A full new solo album, recorded with producer Jaren Johnston, is set for release later this year via Snakefarm.Shiflett released two NEW songs, ‘Born & Raised’ and ‘Long, Long Year’, in 2022, which were his first new solo releases since his 2019 album ‘Hard Lessons’.Meanwhile, Foo Fighters recently announced their 11th album ‘But Here We Are’ and shared its first single ‘Rescue’.

‘New York, New York’ Cast Celebrates Kander and Ebb’s Legacy as New Musical Opens on Broadway

Michael Appler It’s quiet on the roof of the St. James Theater. Up here, less than 10 stories above 44th Street, the clamor of an opening night on Broadway drifts away. Below, titans of the American theater — actors like Chita Rivera and Joel Grey — are gathering to attend the opening night of a new musical by John Kander and Fred Ebb, a duo who gave Broadway shows like “Cabaret” and “Chicago.” But on the roof — on top of “New York, New York” — the air is still.  Up here, in the few moments of serenity before red carpet interviews, an opening night performance and a long evening of parties, the musical’s two stars, Colton Ryan and Anna Uzele — newcomers to all the fuss below — stop to catch their breath.

Foo Fighters release ‘emotionally raw’ first song since Taylor Hawkins’ death

“Rescued,” the band’s first song since the death of beloved drummer Taylor Hawkins in March 2022.And you can feel the ghost of Hawkins in the haunting chorus: “We’re all free to some degree/To dance under the lights/I’m just waiting to be rescued/Bring me back to life.”Back in ferocious form, you can hear the revived Foos emerging from their mourning after Hawkins died at 50 from a suspected overdose while the group was on tour in South America.“It came in a flash/It came out of nowhere/It happened so fast/And then it was over,” sings frontman Dave Grohl, seemingly referencing Hawkins’ passing at the beginning of the song.Later, Grohl hints at his deep grief: “I fell in a trap/My heart’s getting colder.” Then the singer repeats a plea to “rescue me tonight,” as if he wishes he could have saved Hawkins.“Rescued” dropped Wednesday as the Foo Fighters announced “But Here We Are,” their 11th studio album, due June 2.It’s the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band’s follow-up to 2021’s “Medicine at Midnight,” which arrived just four months before Hawkins’ death.A press release describes “But Here We Are” as “a brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters endured over the last year” and “a testament to the healing powers of music.”The release continues, “ ‘But Here We Are’ is the sound of brothers finding refuge in the music that brought them together in the first place 28 years ago, a process that was as therapeutic as it was about a continuation of life.”
