The 2022 BET Awards aired last night, and as usual, the show was filled with great performances from artists both established and rising. From pop to Afrobeats to R&B, the evening had variety: Lizzo celebrated her hit "About Damn Time" with a solid gold, disco-themed performance appropriate for the throwback single, Doechii hypnotized with "Persuasive" and "Crazy," and Fireboy DML's "Peru" and "Playboy" made a strong case for his continued stateside breakthrough.
Other highlights included Ella Mai with Babyface and Roddy Ricch, Latto bringing out Mariah Carey to perform their hit "Big Latto Energy," and a Bad Boy Records medley featuring Jodeci, Mary J. Blige, and Diddy (Shyne even took a break from his political career in Belize to be there!) The night wasn't without its hiccups – Givēon has good reason to be upset over his technical issues – but the showcase of talent was undeniable.
