‘Hellraiser’ First Look: David Bruckner’s Take On Pinhead Hits Hulu On October 7

Hulu provides horror fans with a first look at the reimagined Pinhead in the trailer for their updated take on Clive Barker‘s classic horror movie Hellraiser.

“Hellraiser,” a new take on the immortal 1987 Clive Barker classic (itself based on one of Barker’s more memorably macabre stories), is headed to Hulu in October as part of the streaming service’s Halloween line-up. And a terrifying new trailer has just debuted.The trailer moodily establishes the return of some of the most iconic elements from “Hellraiser,” including (but not limited to) the insidious puzzle box and the appearance of Pinhead and an inter-dimensional demon (this time played by “Sense 8” standout Jamie Clayton).

In the trailer, Pinhead causes havoc for a young woman named Riley, played by Odessa A’zion. The 2022 reboot follows Riley as she struggles with addiction and comes across an ancient puzzle box whose sole purpose is to summon Cenobites, sadistic supernatural beings that come to Earth from another dimension. The original 1987 film saw Doug Bradley playing the leader of the Cenobites, and only in the later sequels was he then identified as Pinhead. The “Hellraiser” franchise has spanned across four theatrical films, six straight-to-home movies and multiple comic books.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter Chloé Zhao has entered into a multi-year first look TV deal with Searchlight Television, Variety has learned. Under the terms of the deal, Zhao will develop and produce scripted content for Searchlight TV across all platforms. It represents a homecoming for Zhao, with Searchlight having produced her Academy Award and Golden Globe-winning feature film “Nomadland.” “Chloe is a visionary filmmaker and, since the moment we finished ‘Nomadland,’ we have looked to find new ways to collaborate again,” said Searchlight presidents Matthew Greenfield and David Greenbaum. “We are inspired by the breadth of Chloe’s storytelling passions and are beyond happy to be able to link arms and expand the opportunities to support personal, powerful, and enduring stories.”

The Cenobites make their bloody return in “Hellraiser.” Described as a “reimagining” of Clive Barker’s classic film, this update stays true to its roots while presenting a new take on its revered source material. Peter Pan, Wendy, and the Lost Boys are on a new adventure in the trailer for Disney’s “Peter Pan & Wendy.”The first look at the upcoming film, which debuted at D23 Expo on Friday, opens with Ever Anderson as Wendy stumbling upon the Lost Boys — who are not all boys. When Wendy points out the discrepancy, she’s met with a sassy, “So?”It isn’t long before Alexander Molony’s Peter Pan appears to whisk Wendy away.

Kajol, one of India’s best-loved actors, stars in Disney+ Hotstar series “The Good Wife – Pyaar, Kanoon, Dhoka,” an adaptation of the CBS series of the same name. Disney unveiled a first look image for the show that is now in production. With the Indian title translating as ‘The Good Wife – Love, Law, Deception,’ Kajol plays a housewife who is forced to return to work as a lawyer after her husband’s public scandal puts him behind bars. The series is directed by Suparn Verma (Amazon Studios series “The Family Man”) and produced by Mumbai-based Banijay Asia. Kajol has credits that include romance “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” melodrama “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…,” romantic thriller “Fanaa,” drama “My Name Is Khan,” and hit the action comedy “Dilwale,” in 2015. She hails from the Mukherjee family which is studded with actors, directors and producers, and has been married to Ajay Devgn for more than twenty years.

Hulu has announced that its reimagining of the 1987 horror classic Hellraiser will debut exclusively on the streamer in the U.S., as part of its annual “Huluween” celebration of fright-filled content, on October 7. (Watch the first teaser for the new film, unveiled today by Hulu, above.)

He has become the first filmmaker given an overall first look film deal since Warner Bros Pictures Group Co-Chairs/CEOs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy were hired by Warner Bros. Discovery chief David Zaslav to steer the film division. In addition, Reeves has re-upped with the Warner Bros.
