Helen Mirren to receive 2023 American Cinematheque Award

Outfest announced the full line up for its 41st Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ+ Festival presented by Warner Bros. Discovery and Genesis Motor America, taking place July 13 – 23 in venues around Los Angeles and is headquartered at the Directors Guild of America in West Hollywood. Tickets and passes are available to Outfest members today, and to the general public starting Friday, June 23rd.

St Mirren have been handed a big boost ahead of the new season after centre back Charles Dunne signed a new one-year contract extension.

Helen Mirren put all of her confidence in "Yellowstone" creator, Taylor Sheridan. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Mirren revealed why she said yes to playing Cara Dutton in the prequel series before ever seeing a script. "He [Sheridan] didn't describe the character particularly, he didn't describe the journey of the character.

Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief Stan, the Australian streaming service owned by Nine Entertainment, has renewed its content supply partnership with Lionsgate. The multi-year output agreement secures a slate of first-run premium scripted dramas from STARZ and Lionsgate and a new slate of theatrical films exclusive to Australian audiences. The agreement follows Stan’s renewal last year of a deal with Sony Pictures Television. Headlining the new shows expected to flow from the Lionsgate deal is espionage drama “Gray,” starring Patricia Clarkson (“Six Feet Under”), Nathalie Emmanuel (“Game of Thrones”) and Rupert Everett (“My Best Friend’s Wedding”) which is based on an original concept by bestselling novelist David Baldacci.

Wet Leg’s sweep follows several major nominations and wins for the duo’s debut record, which also scored them their first Brit awards and a pair of Grammys.

Susan Lucci and Maury Povich will each receive a prestigious honor at the upcoming 2023 Daytime Emmy Awards. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced on Friday that Lucci and Povich will be the Lifetime Achievement Honorees at the 50th Annual Daytime Emmys, which has been postponed amid Hollywood's ongoing Writers Guild of America strike. The honors will be presented in person during the telecasts once they are rescheduled.«I am truly humbled to receive this esteemed award from the Academy,» Lucci said in a statement. «Throughout my career, I have been incredibly fortunate to work alongside exceptional talents and embraced by my fans that have been with me every step of the way.

Becky Hill has become the latest artist to receive one of those BRIT Billion awards from the BPI, marking one billion UK streams of her music. The record label trade body announced this morning that it handed her one of its BRIT Billion trophies backstage before her performance at Manchester’s Parklife Festival on Sunday.“One billion streams of my music in the UK – wild”, she says.

Lewis can be seen in the national touring production, currently playing at L.A.’s Ahmanson Theatre — and it’s thanks to director Kenny Leon that audiences get to hear Davenport sing at certain points it the show.  Written by Charles Fuller, “A Soldier’s Play” is set on an Army base in 1944, when the military is still segregated. Captain Davenport, a rare Black officer, is sent to investigate the shooting of Sergeant Vernon Waters. Though Black himself, Waters despises and persecutes Black men who he feels perpetuate old-fashioned stereotypes.

Israeli director Guy Nattiv’s biopic Golda, starring Helen Mirren as Israel’s iconic Prime Minister Golda Meir, will open the 40th edition of the Jerusalem Film Festival, running from July 13 to 23.

The ceremony will take place Saturday, Nov. 4, at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. American Cinematheque Board chair Rick Nicita said in his initial announcement, “Helen Mirren has won the Oscar, Tony and Emmy triple crown of acting, and is an unparalleled icon among actors. She has portrayed characters from queens to seductresses with a singular skill that has never lost its freshness or appeal.” He continued, “She brings a savvy intelligence and emotional strength to all her roles because, as movie stars do, the camera shows us the essence of who they are. Movie audiences eagerly embrace her talents in a career that glows brighter with every captivating performance. The American Cinematheque is proud and honored to present Helen Mirren with the 37th American Cinematheque Award.”

The American Cinematheque said Monday that Oscar, Emmy and Tony winner Helen Mirren will receive the 2023 American Cinematheque Award, which will be bestowed November 4 at the Beverly Hilton during the nonprofit organization’s annual gala tribute.

MTV announced today that the 2023 Video Music Awards will air live on MTV on September 12 from New Jersey’s Prudential Center. The event will be seen around the world in more than 150 countries reaching a reported 319 million households.
