The Brazilian was guilty of tripping Kevin De Bruyne on the right touchline and the resulting free-kick, which was crossed in by the Belgian, found Ilkay Gundogan, who crashed in his second goal of the game from the edge of the penalty area. And Keane wasted no time in criticising the United midfielder for his actions, describing it as the "height of stupidity."
"Fred had Kevin de Bruyne where he wants him," Keane told ITV Sport. "De Bruyne has his back to goal and then Fred fouls him.
"It's the height of stupidity. But we've seen that from him so many times over the years."
The 30-year-old, despite making 56 appearances for United this season, could be one of several players to leave Old Trafford this forthcoming summer. United have plans to recruit a new midfielder and Fred could be a prime candidate to make way.
