Harry Maguire admits he fell below standards at Manchester United last season.
Maguire had a woeful 2021-22 where he was culpable in United's heavy defeats to Liverpool and he was sent off in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's final match in charge at Watford.
Solskjaer's replacement, Ralf Rangnick, eventually dropped Maguire in April and there were widespread calls for the England international to be stripped of the captaincy.

New United manager Erik ten Hag has retained Maguire as captain but the centre-back was caught off the pace for Melbourne Victory's goal on his first appearance in pre-season in United's 4-1 win.
It is understood Maguire does not retain the full support of the United dressing room. Some teammates were unconvinced by Maguire's captaincy status last season and felt it protected him from a demotion until the humiliation at Anfield.
United are about to finalise the signing of left-footed centre-back Lisandro Martinez for £46million from Ajax and the Argentinian could pose a threat to Maguire if Ten Hag favours Raphael Varane as the right-sided centre-back.
At a supporters' Q&A at the team hotel in Melbourne, Maguire was asked about his form last season: "Listen, last year was disappointing.
"As an individual, I didn’t play well and as team we certainly didn’t play well. But a good career can last 10 to 15 years and you’re never going to have every year where it’s plain sailing and you don’t have any difficulties.
"You’re going to have to fight, you’re going to have setbacks and last year was certainly a setback for myself on my career path but it’s behind us now and we look forward to the future and getting this club back to winning
