Shaquille O'Neal is opening up about Vanessa Bryant and her lawsuit against Los Angeles County.The former L.A. Laker and NBA legend recently spoke with ET's Kevin Frazier, while announcing the exciting details of the Shaquille O'Neal Foundation's second annual fundraiser gala.While dishing on the star-studded benefit event, Shaq also reflected on his late teammate Kobe Bryant's wife, and shared his praise for her lawsuit regarding graphic photos of the helicopter crash site that killed Kobe and the couple's 13-year-old daughter, Gianna Bryant, which were taken and allegedly shared by the L.A. County Sheriff's Department.«I feel for her,» Shaq said. «We’ve never talked a lot [but] we’ve always had respect for each other. Every time I see her, it’s a hug, it’s a laugh.»«But I couldn’t imagine what she's going through,» he added.

“Empire of Light,” the latest feature film from Oscar winner Sam Mendes, has locked its European premiere with a gala screening at the 66th annual BFI London Film Festival. Starring Olivia Colman, Michael Ward, Colin Firth, Toby Jones and others, the 1980s–set film “is a powerful and poignant story about human connection and the magic of cinema,” distributor Searchlight Pictures said in a statement. The film’s stars – including Colman, Firth, and on-the-rise BAFTA winner Ward – are expected to be in attendance at the festival’s American Express Gala screening on Oct.

Naman Ramachandran Sam Mendes’ “Empire of Light,” starring Olivia Colman, Micheal Ward and Colin Firth, will be this year’s American Express Gala at the 66th BFI London Film Festival.Written, produced and directed by Oscar and BAFTA winning filmmaker Mendes, the film also stars Toby Jones, Tanya Moodie, Tom Brooke and Crystal Clarke. Set in an English seaside town in the early 1980s, the film is about human connection and the magic of cinema. It marks Mendes’ first solo credit as screenwriter and reunites him with Oscar winning cinematographer Roger Deakins (“1917,” “Skyfall”).The film is produced by Mendes and Pippa Harris’ Neal Street Productions, in partnership with Searchlight Pictures.

Knives Out sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, will have its European premiere at this year’s BFI London Film Festival.Director Rian Johnson’s highly anticipated sequel, which sees Daniel Craig reprise his role as detective Benoit Blanc, will close the festival on October 16 with a screening at London’s Southbank Centre.There will also be simultaneous preview screenings of the film at additional cinemas across the UK. Details of the screenings have yet to be announced.Along with Johnson and Craig, cast members Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Leslie Odom Jr, Kate Hudson and Madelyn Cline will attend the premiere.

Manori Ravindran International EditorA long-awaited Accessibility Scorecard for film events will be released on Friday, providing a tool that could enable filmmakers and other industry professionals to make festivals more accessible.In order to draw visibility to the inaccessibility of festivals and entertainment industry events, FWD-Doc has partnered with Film Event Accessibility Working Group (FEAW), led by Cassidy Dimon, to begin the collective reporting of data related to accessibility successes and failures. Variety first reported on the initiative following the Cannes Film Festival in May.Dimon, who developed the Scorecard questionnaire, explains that “the burden of explaining inaccessibility” is currently placed on the filmmaker or attendee. “The objective of the Scorecard is to make it as easy as possible for people to provide concise feedback without requiring them to invest even more of their time and labor on improving a festival or event,” she said.Eryn Brown, agent and co-founder of Hollywood campaign group 1IN4 Coalition, added: “Professionals attending festivals should be able to focus on their art or their job, and not have to fight just to get fair access to a room or a stage.”Festivals, filmmakers, professionals, and event attendees can access the Scorecard as an online questionnaire template, where users can provide responses about their experiences with festivals and film events.
