Hapless jewellery burglars caught yards away from shop they targeted


Bolton Crown Court, following the burglary at Warren James, in Leigh, last month. Both men had previously pleaded guilty to burglary, while Haigh, of Cowper Avenue, Atherton, had also pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis.

The store is currently closed during the current lockdown, due to being classed as non-essential retail. Store manager Vicky Francis had last locked it up and set the alarm on December 29 2020, prosecution barrister David Bentley told the court.
