While it may not be the powerhouse it used to be, DWTS still has allure for Disney Plus, which is seeking to expand its subscriber base with different offerings.

Katy Perry-narrated podcast series about Elizabeth Taylor, Elizabeth The First, has been announced, revealed alongside a teaser for its first episode.With Taylor billed as “the original influencer”, the ten-part series will feature stories from those closest to Taylor (who died in 2011), as well as audio from the archives of the House of Taylor.Perry will reportedly cover topics such as Taylor’s time working in (and fight against) a male-dominated film studio industry, her activism promoting awareness of issues like HIV and AIDS, and alcohol and drug abuse.The series will also look at Taylor’s rise to being the world’s highest paid actress in the 1960s, when she successfully negotiated the first $1million to star in 1963s Cleopatra.Produced by Imperative Entertainment, Elizabeth The First is set to arrive on Monday October 3, available on all major podcast platforms.Coinciding with the news of the release date, a teaser for the first episode of Elizabeth The First was released on September 15.Coming in at just under three and a half minutes, the teaser hears Perry call Taylor the “first true influencer… living a remarkable life”.“She had power, real power, influencing generations,” Perry says.Listen below:Upon the series’ announcement back in March, Perry said in a statement to Variety: “Like most people, I was attracted to her glamour, and in my own life, I continue to find myself referencing her through some of my visuals.“I’m inspired by her bold activism, her constant boss moves in business, and through it all, an unapologetic way of loving — all things I try to live in my own life.“It’s an honour to be able to share her story in this way.”

Comedy Central has set a premiere date for animated news satire show “Stephen Colbert Presents Tooning Out the News.” TheWrap can exclusively reveal it heads to the small screen on Wednesday, Oct. 5.The half-hour show, which features animated characters lampooning top news stories, and interviewing real-world guests, will air after “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.” It’s move to Comedy Central from its original home of CBS All Access (before it was Paramount+) was announced in May.TheWrap also has a first look at the new promo of the show, which has its own takes on many of the primetime cable news hosts.“Tooning Out the News” will span 13 episodes.

The eight-episode series follows armchair detective Bell Prescott (Luke Kirby) and traffic cop Cammie Lorde (Tiana Okoye) as they investigate a murder in their small Florida town. Along with Kirby and Okoye, the series stars Forrest Goodluck, Lorenza Izzo, Wallace Smith, Glenn Morshower and Lesley Ann Warren. Naman Ramachandran Bhutanese filmmaker Dechen Roder’s new film, “I, The Song,” which is selected at the Venice Production Bridge’s gap financing market, will commence principal photography in December. Roder’s debut feature “Honeygiver Among the Dogs” premiered at Busan in 2016, and went on to have a successful festival run including at Berlin, Locarno, Hong Kong, Taipei and Fribourg, where it won three major awards. “I, The Song” was born when two friends of Roder experienced the horror of being in non-consensual pornographic videos and photos in Bhutan, where in both cases it was recorded and shared without their knowledge or consent.

Rebecca Rubin Film and Media Reporter Neon has landed U.S. distribution rights to South Korean director Park Chan-wook’s film “Oldboy” and plans to bring the dark revenge thriller back to theaters in honor of its 20th anniversary. It will mark the first time Park’s film plays on the big screen since its initial release on Nov. 21, 2003. Neon has not specified the exact date that “Oldboy” will return to the big screen. “Oldboy,” which Oark co-wrote with Hwang Jo-yun and Lim Joon-hyung, won the Grand Prix at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival, led by jury president Quentin Tarantino. The acclaimed film stars Choi Min-sik as Oh Dae-Su, a man who was kidnapped and imprisoned for 15 years. After he’s released, he has five days to find his captor. Yoo Ji-tae and Kang Hye-jung co-star in the film.
