Celebrity Bake Off star Matt Lucas has hit back at the notion that Paul Hollywood showed him ‘favouritism’ in the tent, stating that people can ‘say what you like’. On last night’s episode, Matt – who typically hosts the programme with Noel Fielding – stepped in to take part in the celebrity charity special for Stand Up To Cancer alongside Ed Gamble, Example and Annie Mac after another star dropped out at the last minute. While the Little Britain star was making glass window biscuits, judge Paul helped knead some of his dough after coming over to check on him, before the contestant later received a coveted Paul Hollywood handshake during his critique.
There were more famous faces stepping into the equally famous tent on Tuesday night for another edition of Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer.
Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith with his bakes and beat out competition from DJ Annie Mac, comedian Ed Gamble, and usual Bake Off presenter Matt Lucas. Speaking on his win, Example said: 'I'm absolutely overwhelmed. I never step out of my comfort zone, I'm blown away.
LIVE – Updated at 21:14 There’s a very special baker this week, as Matt Lucas has to replace a missing contestant, joining Example, Annie Mac and Ed Gamble in their attempts to not botch biscuits, doughnuts and novelty cakes . It was a remarkably open field really - Matt was the only one who survived the technical, but then his Showstopper was arguably the worst. On balance, I think it was perhaps between Ed and Example? Either way, I’m happy for him.
