Fans of the Great British Bake Off were left reeling on Tuesday after the technical challenge called for the contestants to make Tacos. After thirteen seasons, the Great British Bake Off has made just about every cake out there, and yet, the nation is still obsessed.
But that love may have soured slightly after Tuesday’s episode saw the bakers make Tacos as part of the first-ever Mexican-themed week. Alongside their savoury creation, bakers were also tasked with putting their own spin on a pan dulce and a tres leches cake.
Many viewers flocked to social media to share their thoughts, most of them not positive and questioning why tacos were included. One Twitter user joked: “The future of Bake Off: ‘It’s week 12 of #GBBO and your technical challenge is to roast a chicken’.” “Am I the only one getting sick of there being more cooking on BAKE off then baking?” another questioned.
“TACOS AREN'T BAKING!!!” a third wrote alongside an image of actor Will Ferrell screaming. Even famous faces joined in with the jokes, with TV presenter Richard Osman writing: “You'd be gutted to be kicked out of Bake Off because you couldn't make guacamole.” Other people were more concerned with the contestants’ skills during the technical challenge.
