United's miserable season stooped to yet another low as they were dismantled 4-0 by Brighton on Saturday. United failed to carve any solid openings before and after the Seagulls' opener, and Ralf Rangnick's side only mustered up signs of a fightback with the game out of sight.
Ronaldo was one of the only players to be serenaded at full-time by the travelling supporters but for the majority of the squad, they were subjected to chants of "you're not fit to wear the shirt" as their torrid away spell continued. "Man United right now don't have any (leaders) I read several months ago that Ronaldo says they don't listen anymore," Souness said speaking to Sky Sports. "I thought it was a good idea going back there (for Ronaldo) because I thought they need a catalyst for change.
"They need someone to say; this is how we train, we turn up on time and we're only at it all the time because he was at big clubs. They don't play any easy games, but Man United do not have leaders, they stopped listening, they've knocked off and I would imagine they have some real bad apples in that group that are tossing it off to the side and are not in Man United going forward."
