Gov. Gavin Newsom Widens California Stay-at-Home Order

Kirk Cameron is making his voice -- and those of other angry Californians -- heard this holiday season to combat California Gov. Gavin Newsom's stay-at-home order amid the coronavirus surge in the state.

As the number of Covid-19 hospitalizations continued its record ascent in Los Angeles County on Tuesday, 30% of the respondents to a recent survey indicated they had visited a friend, neighbor or relative or had visitors at their residence. The survey was conducted by the University of Southern California’s Center for Social and Economic Research, which does a weekly representative survey of L.A. County residents about their actions through the pandemic.

SACRAMENTO – Speaking to reporters from his home where he is undergoing a ten-day quarantine due to possible exposed to the coronavirus, California Governor Gavin Newsom said Monday that the three-week regional stay-at-home order set to expire on December 28 is very likely to be extended.

On Tuesday, California Governor Gavin Newsom took a victory lap on Tuesday after the arrival of the first 32,000 doses Covid-19 vaccine. “There is light at the end of the tunnel,” he said. But there was a lot of darkness in the numbers he later announced.

North Carolina residents are now facing even tighter restrictions to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 as Gov. Roy Cooper's modified stay-at-home order takes effect Friday.  All residents are required to stay at home between the hours of 10 p.m.

California Governor Gavin Newsom took to the podium Monday morning after a devastating weekend for the state that saw the all-time high number of cases on Friday of about 22,000, growing to over 30,000 by Sunday. On Monday, the number was 24,735. “Just over the past 3 days we’ve averaged about 25,000 new cases a day,” said the Governor.

Downtown Disney and a portion of California Adventure will continue to operate, however, some locations will be closed after it was announced on Saturday a regional stay-at-home order had been triggered for Southern California. The order will go into effect for SoCal and San Joaquin Valley at 11:59 p.m.
