Gorillaz debut new Tame Impala and Bootie Brown collaboration ‘New Gold’ at All Points East

Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief Jack Neo, who is by far Singapore’s most commercially successful filmmaker, has begun production on “King of Musang King,” a comedy that he envisages being ready for release at Chinese New Year in January. The narrative gives prominent position to durians, the smelly Southeast Asian fruit that most people either love or hate. Neo (“Money No Enough,” the “Ah Boys to Men” franchise) will co-star, direct and produce through his J Team Productions. The film will be presented by J Team, mm2 Entertainment and Cathay Cineplexes. The story revolves around a man (played by Mark Lee), his abandoned Malaysian wife (played by Yeo Yann Yann), and childhood friend Mao Shan (played by Jack Neo).

Sam Smith and Kim Petras have announced a collaborative new single called ‘Unholy’.As The Line Of Best Fit notes, both artists had recently shared preview clips of the forthcoming song on their respective TikTok profiles. One brief video saw the pair busting moves in what appeared to be a recording studio.“Little dance we made @Kim Petras,” Smith captioned that post.

Manori Ravindran International Editor Cohen Media Group has acquired producer Jeremy Thomas’ prestigious international sales company HanWay Films in a major deal. Cohen Media Group owns Landmark Theatres in the U.S. and British distributor-exhibitor Curzon. HanWay Films was founded by “The Last Emperor” producer Thomas and is co-owned with his partner Peter Watson. Under the deal, HanWay Films will continue to be branded as an independent label selling theatrical titles to its distribution partners worldwide. It’s still unclear how much an exclusive tie-in there will be to parent company-owned Curzon.

Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown in the forthcoming Enola Holmes sequel has been shared.The show debuted on Netflix in 2020, with Brown playing the titular role alongside Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes.Both reprise their roles in the forthcoming sequel, which is set to hit the streaming service on November 4.A synopsis for the new season reads: “Fresh off the triumph of solving her first case, Enola Holmes (Brown) follows in the footsteps of her famous brother, Sherlock (Cavill), and opens her own agency — only to find that life as a female detective-for-hire isn’t as easy as it seems.“Resigned to accepting the cold realities of adulthood, she is about to close shop when a penniless matchstick girl offers Enola her first official job: to find her missing sister.”It adds: “But this case proves to be far more puzzling than expected, as Enola is thrown into a dangerous new world — from London’s sinister factories and colorful music halls to the highest echelons of society and 221B Baker Street itself. The 1975 made their live return in Japan, playing the first of two gigs as part of the Summer Sonic Festival – watch them debut a new song called ‘I’m In Love With You’ below.The gigs mark the band’s first live shows since they performed in Dublin in March 2020, and come ahead of a last-minute pair of headline gigs at Reading & Leeds (August 26-28), where they’ve replaced Rage Against The Machine, who were forced to pull out due to injury.Across their 16-song set, the band played tracks from all four of their studio albums, as well as two cuts from forthcoming LP ‘Being Funny In A Foreign Language’, which is due out on October 14 via Dirty Hit/Polydor.One of the songs given a live debut was new single ‘Happiness’, with an unreleased, anthemic track called ‘I’m In Love With You’ – confirmed to be on the ‘Being Happy…’ tracklist – also performed.
