It was actually fellow co-stars Dave and Shirley Griffiths that let slip the new series air date to their 123,000 followers on Instagram as Friday 18 February. Best friends Jenny Newby and Lee Riley recorded a video to share their excitement about the series’ return with their 656,000 Instagram followers.
Lee calmly began: “Hi everyone! As you know Gogglebox is back next Friday, no this Friday to be fair! What were you going to say Jenny?” Jenny replied: “I’m so excited, I’m so excited.” Before she started exclaiming loudly: “We’re back! Bums on seats! Woo, woo, woo! See you at Friday at 9 o’clock, get the kettles on!” Lee laughed as Jenny became more and more animated, as she added: “That’s how you say it, when you’re excited. Not ‘Hello everyone.” The hilarious duo are set to return to Channel 4 on Friday, but one couple will not be joining them this week, Stephen Webb and Daniel Lustig. Stephen told his Instagram followers earlier in the week that he had tested positive for Covid-19 so had to pull out of this week’s episode.
He explained: “This is for the Gogglebox crew, good luck filming this week, can't wait to see you Friday. I need a laugh, desperately. We can't film this week cause I've got Covid." Behind him, Daniel added: "We locked him up in this room for everyone's benefit." Stephen ended: "Anyway, can't wait to watch you all on Friday.
