A warning sign was put up outside a Manchester city centre skyscraper hotel today after reports of falling glass. Police attended the Hilton Hotel at the Beetham Tower, on Deansgate, earlier on Monday afternoon.
Video footage circulating on social media, posted just after 2pm, captured what appeared to be pieces of glass scattered across the pavement and road outside - and captured the sound of passing cars crunching over them.
It's understood a pane of glass on the hotel's façade broke, with the footage showing a panel several storeys up. There were no reports of any injuries.

Images taken by the Manchester Evening News showed a sign had been attached to a bollard outside the hotel's entrance.
It said: "Danger falling glass. Please use other pavement."
Police, also pictured at the scene, left a short time later.
One witness at the scene said: "The section of the pavement next to the tower was closed off, with signs telling people to cross the road due to a danger of falling glass.
"The building was still being used by people, only that section of pavement and the taxi rank outside appeared to be shut.
"Police were there but left at 3pm.
"There were chunks of glass on Watson Street, the one which runs under the railway bridge to Britons Protection, on both sides of the road, but there was no disruption to traffic.
"Workers were on site making repairs."
The M.E.N. has contacted Hilton Hotels for comment.
