Benediction: The Film On Queer British Poet Siegfried Sassoon Is A Must Watch

By Renee Lou Dallow“God was in his heaven, and there were sausages for breakfast.”Terence Davies’ new film, Benediction, is about the life, loves and the poetry of queer World War 1 British poet Siegfried Sassoon. In the film, he is asked by a military tribunal if he is pro-German, to which Siegfried played by Jack Lowden replies,  “I’m pro-human.” Sassoon, a decorated war hero who became disillusioned with the endless conflict and casualties, was anti-war and spoke out against the powers of the day failing to state conditions for peace. The film then moves to another conflict – his life and struggles with his homosexuality. A long passionate affair with actor Ivor Novello (Jeremy Irvine) and a somewhat more sensitive and empathetic relationship with Stephen Tennant (Calm Lynch) follow before Sassoon marries Hester Gatty (Kate Phillips) and has a son, George (Richard Goulding).

GMB's Susanna Reid in stitches as Rob Beckett mocks politician guests on show

Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid was left in hysterics by comedian Rob Beckett who began mocking politician Dominic Raab on Tuesday's show. The London funny man, 36, picked up on the deputy Prime Minister's, 48, hand gesture and suggested he looked as though he was "doing a pancake" and did a hilarious impression of him. As Rob joined Susanna and Richard Madeley on the show via video link, he began: "First of all how do you put up with those politicians every day? Oh my God they do my head in, absolute maggots." Rob then mimed a hand gesture which he attributed to the show's previous guest, Mr Raab.

Cannes Review : Louis Garrel Comedy ‘The Innocent’

Actor/director Louis Garrel’s heist film The Innocent (L’ Innocent), is flat out entertaining. It hits all of the familiar beats of a romantic dark comedy, but its the witty, sarcastic dialogue that carries the entire establishing arc all the way to the end.

‘Triangle of Sadness’ Film Review: Gross-Out Comedy Is Overlong and Understuffed

After his 2017 art-world satire “The Square” scored the Palme d’Or at Cannes, Swedish provocateur Ruben Östlund swaggers back to competition with “Triangle of Sadness,” a mixed-bag of social commentary and gross-out comedy that could only come from a filmmaker with a secured reputation and zero f—s to give. Taking aim at the 1% and shouting “Eat the rich!” with the anger of a sea storm and the subtlety of an exploding toilet, the film is both over-long and under-stuffed, but it nevertheless left Cannes’ notoriously tough crowd doubled over in laughter.Running just under two-and-a-half hours and split up into three chapters, the film lifts as much from Noam Chomsky as from John Waters as it hoses down beauty standards and luxury culture with gallons of projectile vomit.

'The Masked Singer' Crowns Season 7 Champion -- See What Superstar Took Home the Golden Mask Trophy!

season 7 crowned an all-new champion on Wednesday! After some truly breathtaking performances from the final three contestants, one costumed crooner ended up walking away with the Golden Mask Trophy!Going back to tradition — after having a finale with just two contestants last season — this season's big showdown pitted the top three singers against one another for an ultimate musical showdown. The Prince, The Ringmaster and The Firefly — who all happened to be from Team Good — each took to the stage to sing their hearts out, with The Prince kicking off the evening. The frog-costumed crooner wowed with a stunning performance of Coldplay's «Viva La Vida» that garnered a well-earned standing ovation from the panel and the audience. However, with this being the final, all three contestants brought their A-game, and Firefly upped the ante with a sultry, jaw-dropping rendition of «Bag Girl» by Usher. She showed off her moves and danced with the panel, leading panelist Nicole Scherzinger to gush, «Tonight, at this finale, you are the one to beat.»The Ringmaster then took the stage and brought the first round of the finale to an emotional close with a powerful performance of Sara Bareilles' «Gravity» that saw her hitting some truly next-level high notes.
