Following the release of her 2019 triumph “Up” with Sheppard and Wiz Khalifa, the Tokyo born and bred pop star recently became the first solo female Japanese artist to go Gold in the United States since Yoko Ono in 1984.
Her latest EP Show Me was executive produced by Justin Bieber collaborator Poo Bear, and features her latest track “Silver Lining.”
The track, produced and mixed by the Kanye West collaborators Katalyst is about “struggling through the pain of the loss of love, and trying to find a ray of hope so that you can reflect on the days spent together, not only as painful, but as hopeful.”
Since her debut in 2017 with “Live Your Dreams,” she’s also scored chart hits with tracks like “Undisputed,” which worked its way up the Top 40 U.S. Rhythmic Charts and garnered over 73 million videos on TikTok, as well as “Show Me” featuring Ty Dolla $ign.
“I’d like to get past the boundaries of nationality,” Sena Kana says of her career.
“The kindness inside of people is what I want to share most through what I do. We can get up again, believe in our dreams again, and connect with people again. Those are the kinds of songs I want to sing. That’s the kind of music I want to make. It’s really my ideal.”
