The Beaches are one of the acts we’re excited about at Just Jared, and we want readers to get a chance to know them better.
The Juno Award-winning Toronto quartet is named after the neighborhood they lived in – individually vocalist Jordan Miller, guitarist Kylie Miller, keyboardist/guitarist Leandra Earl, and drummer Eliza Enman-McDaniel.
The group released their self-titled EP back in 2013, then signed a deal with Island Records in 2016, releasing their major label debut Late Show, as well as 2019′s The Professional and 2021′s Future Lovers. (Their latest album was declared “the best rock album of last year” by Elton John!)
On Wednesday (August 24), the group released their latest single, “Orpheus.”
“Orpheus played his favorite songs when we were in his basement / We would fool around and chill out on his couch while he played his mustang,” they declare.
“I’ve always been interested in Greek myths. One of my favourites is the Orpheus legend, a story about an artist who is so in love with his deceased wife that he tries to bring her back to life, only to lose her again. There’s a lot about the story that resonates with me, especially when I think about past loves. It’s tempting to look back and put people on pedestals, but when you always look back you can never look forward and see what beautiful things might be coming for you,” Jordan explains.
The Beaches are currently on a North American tour, after opening for acts like The Rolling Stones and Foo Fighters, and have racked up an immense 52 million streams across streaming services.
