The new movie Death on the Nile is now in theaters and there’s one line in the film that is quickly becoming iconic.
Early on in the movie, Gal Gadot‘s character welcomes everyone to the boat and tells them that they have “enough Champagne to fill the Nile” while tossing the Champagne from her glass overboard.
The moment was included in the trailer for the movie and fans at one screening were so excited to hear the line in the movie that it got thunderous applause.

Some fans are comparing the clip to Nicole Kidman‘s ad for AMC, which plays before every movie screening at AMC Theatres. The ad has similarly received applause from excited fans at some showings!
Jackson McHenry, a reporter for Vulture, wondered how much Champagne was actually on the boat and counted “a total of nine coupes, 41 flutes, 11 classic bottles, and six magnums of Champagne.” That amounts to only 37.71 liters.
Well, a standard bathtub holds 100 liters of water, so they didn’t even have enough to fill a tub!
Film critic Scott Mendelson has defended the line and Gal‘s delivery of it.
“Um, that ‘enough champagne to fill the Nile’ bit in #DeathOnTheNile that everyone is bagging on makes sense *in the context of the film*. At that moment, Gal Gadot is angry, scared and frustrated and putting on a fake and unconvincing brave face for those in her company,” he said.

“Death on the Nile” was being released in the rest of the Middle East over the weekend, according to Deadline.Gadot, 36, served in the Israeli armed forces for two years, as is required of all young Israelis, before she entered show business. It’s not the first time the former Miss Israel’s nationality has caused controversy as tensions persist between the two warring nations.
Lebanon and Kuwait won’t be playing "Death on the Nile," Deadline has confirmed, and that’s unfortunately due to both countries’ protest of Israeli native star Gal Gadot. Gadot served in the Israeli military for two years prior to becoming a model and actress, as her native country mandates it. Given her connection to the IDF, Lebanon previously blocked the actress’ movie "Wonder Woman" from release in May 2017.
“Death On The Nile” is ramping up to be a blockbuster success but it won’t be shown in Lebanon or Kuwait.

It’s hard to imagine now, so long after it was released, that anyone would have been able to step into the roles of Max and Furiosa in “Mad Max: Fury Road,” like Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron were able to do. However, like almost every other film ever created, there was a time when the filmmakers were trying to narrow down who exactly would be the best actors for the job.
Owen Gleiberman Chief Film CriticAgatha Christie was born in 1890, and the heyday of movie adaptations of her novels goes quite a ways back (like, 70 or 80 years). The whole structure and flavor of this sort of delectably engineered whodunit, with its cast of suspects drawn in deliberate broad strokes and its know-it-all detective whose powers of deduction descend directly from Sherlock Holmes, is rooted in the cozy symmetry of the studio-system era.
