Manchester City fans were left raving about the club’s future after getting a glimpse of the next generation against Norwich.
City of course took another big step towards defending their title as they comprehensively beat Norwich 4-0, with Raheem Sterling the star of the show with a perfect hat-trick.
But there was also a chance for the travelling supporters at Carrow Road to see what the future could hold as three of the club’s brightest youngsters got their opportunity.
James McAtee, Liam Delap and Kayky were all included in the matchday squad by Pep Guardiola and all three made their mark on the game after coming off the bench in the second half.
McAtee was the first as he replaced Bernardo Silva with 15 minutes, having penned a three-year extension on his contract to underline the 19-year-old’s potential.
And there was an encouraging moment a few minutes later when Delap made his return after a long lay-off through injury, with the striker winning the late penalty that led to Sterling completing his hat-trick.
And there was still time for the last of the three youngsters to make his appearance, with Brazilian Kayky making his league debut, having made his first-team bow last month in the FA Cup.
And seeing the future of City all on the pitch at the same time certainly got fans excited.
With the games coming thick and fast, and with City targeting a historic treble still, the trio could well get more opportunities this season.
Guardiola made five changes to his side at Norwich, which perhaps gives an indication of his plans for the rest of the season, with the Champions League still the big aim.
