HSBC will close 114 of its UK branches from April of 2023 due to customers moving to internet banking following the pandemic.
Two locations in Scotland are included in the closure as both Stirling and Dundee branches will be shutting their doors.
The Dundee location closes in May, while the Stirling branch will be shutting in June of next year.
Around 100 HSBC staff could leave the bank as a result of plans, according to the PA news agency, however the bank has stressed that it hopes to redeploy employees to other roles.
Jackie Uhi, HSBC UK’s managing director of UK distribution, said: “People are changing the way they bank and footfall in many branches is at an all-time low, with no signs of it returning. Banking remotely is becoming the norm for the vast majority of us.
“Branches will continue to play an important role in day-to-day banking, while providing specialist face-to-face support in moments that matter."
She added" “The decision to close a branch is never easy or taken lightly."
According to HSBC their 'post closure' strategy, including providing free tablet devices to selected branch customers who do not already have a device to bank digitally.
