2022 is set to be a massive year for Star Trek fans, with release dates and renewals for some of the franchise’s latest hits.
Star Trek has come a long way since sci-fi genius Gene Roddenberry’s Enterprise set out on its five-year mission in 1966, with Captain Kirk (famously played by William Shatner) in the captain’s chair.
With well-known films released and more TV incarnations like Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Deep Space 9 and Star Trek: Enterprise, taking us from the late 1980s into the early 2000s, the franchise has endured for a long time.

The most recent incarnations of the show have seen both new characters developed and old ones return to the franchise.
But what can fans expect from the Star Trek franchise this year?
We’ve seen lots of news about Star Trek in recent weeks, with most of the shows believed to be coming to Paramount+ in the US. UK streaming dates and platforms are still to be confirmed, although it has been reported that Paramount+ may be made available in the UK this year.
Premiering in 2017, Star Trek: Discovery has managed to do something quite remarkable by winning over many previous fans of the franchise and attracting new ones. Season 4B of the show is in line to launch on Thursday, February 10.
There have also been widespread reports that the show has been renewed for a fifth series.
After a shock return to one of his most famous roles in 2020, season two of Star Trek: Picard will premiere on Thursday, March 3.
Another season of the show is also reportedly in production, with rumours that Whoopi Goldberg could reprise her role as the all-knowing bartender,
