Former football player Tom Dempsey has sadly died from the COVID-19 Coronavirus at age 73.
The athlete played for both the Philadelphia Eagles and New Orleans Saints as #19.
“Our thoughts and prayers are extended to Carlene and the entire Dempsey family on the passing of their dear Tom. The New Orleans Saints family is deeply saddened and heartbroken at this most difficult time,” a statement reads from the Saints owner Gayle Benson.

New Orleans Saints legendary kicker Tom Dempsey died at 73 years old Saturday, the team announced Sunday morning. Dempsey, who was inducted into the Saints Hall of Fame in 1989, died from complications of COVID-19, which he contracted on March 25. He had also battled Alzheimer's disease and dementia since 2012.

American pianist Ellis Marsalis has passed away at the age of 85 after contracting COVID-19. The father of renowned musicians, Wynton and Branford Marsalis was suffering from pneumonia, caused by Coronavirus, one of his sons told the Associated Press. “Pneumonia was the actual thing that caused his demise," Ellis Marsalis III said. "But it was pneumonia brought on by COVID-19," he added.
