Anybody who has watched BBC's Homes Under the Hammer will know just how beneficial buying a property at an auction can be. Houses that go under the hammer can not only be bought at a much cheaper price than what they would go for on the market, but each home is often run-down - meaning you can completely rip it out and make it your own.
SDL Property Auctions have four homes across Greater Manchester that are set to go to auction on September 29 - and they are the ultimate 'fixer-upper' style properties. Andy Thompson, head of auctions in the north west for SDL Property Auctions said: "The main benefit to buying a home at auction rather than through a traditional estate agent is that you should hopefully get a bit more property for your money. If you’re a first-time-buyer, it can be a way of getting on the property ladder earlier or in a more preferred location with a smaller deposit.
"The main misconception with auction is that all the properties we sell have something wrong with them. In reality, auction offers a really swift and secure way of selling – the whole sale process is usually done within 4-6 weeks, compared to around 4-6 months on the open market.
