Doctor Strange actor Chiwetel Ejiofor and No Time to Die's Naomie Harris have joined forces in the first trailer for Showtime's TV adaptation of The Man Who Fell to Earth, which has just dropped. Based on the 1963 book by Walter Tevis, The Man Who Fell to Earth series follows Faraday (Ejiofor), an alien who is left attempting to understand his purpose after landing on Earth at a pivotal moment in human evolution.
As Faraday must confront his own past to determine our future, he soon meets a human engineer and scientist named Justin Falls (Harris), who must conquer her own demons, and it's not long before the pair team up to try and help Faraday do whatever he has been sent to do – save two worlds. The Man Who Fell to Earth was previously adapted into a movie in 1976, starring iconic musician and actor David Bowie as the titular alien, Thomas Jerome Newton.
This TV adaptation, which has been billed as a sequel rather than a reboot, will see Thomas appear, which fans of the original will love, but he'll be played by the legendary Bill Nighy. "It's a new alien, a new character, a whole new situation, but it definitely holds true to the spirit of what [Walter] Tevis was doing in the novel," Kurtzman previously explained (via TV Line).

"All the great sci-fi ends up predicting the future, if you look at all the things that really lasted, and Walter Tevis did that.
" The series will premiere on Sunday, April 24 on Showtime.
