Noted Tolkien expert Stephen Colbert was bummed a little during his monologue on Monday with the news that Italy’s new neo-fascist Prime Minister is apparently really, really into “the Lord of the Rings.”And in explaining why it doesn’t make sense for extreme right wingers to love Tolkien’s legendarium, he nerded out so much even his own camera started to drift off.“The part that hurts the most for me personally,” Colbert said after explaining the situation, “is that Meloni, who leads a party that has often been described as neo-fascist, claims to be a big Tolkien fan, who used to dress up as a hobbit.”“No! No! Or, as they say in Italian, no. Don’t you ruin the ‘Lord of the Rings.’ No self-respecting adult dresses like a hobbit.

Great British Bake Off has officially returned to our screens as judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood welcomed a fresh batch of bakers into the tent. Yossman After triumphing at last year’s Venice Film Festival, the U.K. and Irish rights to Eric Gravel’s race-against-time social drama “Full Time” (À plein temps) have been snapped up by Parkland Entertainment. It is set to be released in the U.K. and Ireland in early 2023. The film, which stars “Call My Agent’s” Laure Calamy, had its world premiere at last year’s festival in the Orizzonti section before going on to win prizes for both Calamy, for best actress, and Gravel, for best director. In “Full Time,” Calamy stars as Julie, a maid in a luxury Parisian hotel while simultaneously carting for her two children in the French countryside. One day, she finally gets a break when she is offered an interview for a long-hoped for job. But, as luck would have it, the interview is on the same day as a national strike, which shuts down the city’s transport.

Sarah Ferguson has shared a moving tribute to the Queen, labelling her "the most incredible mother-in-law and friend" in a moving Instagram post.The Queen died at the age of 96 on Thursday afternoon, with family members including Charles, who now goes by the title of King, Queen Consort Camilla and Princess Anne. Sarah had been in Venice for the film festival and following news of the Queen's turn for the worst, she was seen getting onto a plane at the Italian city's airport. In a statement posted on Instagram late on Thursday night, Sarah shared her devastation at the Queen's death.

The ex-wife of Prince Andrew had been in Italy for the Venice International Film Festival, but when news of the Queen's ill-health broke, she embarked on a return to the UK. Just hours after Sarah was pictured at the Italian airport, the Duke of York and the Wessexes were pictured arriving at Balmoral in a car being driven by Prince William.They had all flown to Aberdeen airport together on an RAF jet.
