A family have been left stuck in a hotel room after being given 'days' to leave their flat. The father claims all the tenants in the building were given a 'week's notice' to leave with no reason provided by the property owner, reports Leicestershire Live.
The anonymous father says his family were placed into Highcross House Apart Hotel by the Blaby District Council after having previously stayed at a hotel after facing homelessness. The couple and their 10-year-old daughter moved into the property managed by Showcase Apartments earlier this year.
After moving into the accommodation in July, the family then began getting settled in Highcross House Apart Hotel. However, the father says something seemed off in the weeks prior to their evacuation from the property.
He said: “My wife noticed that there were people with hi-vis vests on. There were also bits of corridor blocked off and it didn’t really make any sense.
"You couldn’t go through the main reception and there were people hanging around all the time. It felt a bit weird, so I rang my housing officer and told them there was all this security hanging about, and because I have a 10-year-old daughter, I asked if there was something that I needed to be made aware of for her safety.”
The father says he was then contacted by his housing officer on November 11, for what he thought would be another routine check-in. However, he was stunned to be informed that he had to leave the property by next week.
He said: "But instead, the housing officer had been told by the manager of the apartment that all residents needed to be out by the 20th, and his priority would be to find us accommodation"
