Fairport Convention singer Judy Dyble dies at 71

Pop star Rina Sawayama said she was left in tears after being told she is ineligible for two of the UK’s biggest music awards because she does not hold a British passport.

Sawayama, received so much praise. Unfortunately, though, Rina's getting shut out by two major awards in her country of residence—the BRIT Awards and the Mercury Prize—for not being British enough.On Twitter, Rina spoke out about the issue and wrote:if u wanna see CHANGE in the eligibility criteria then @ them and tell them u want them to revise the citizenship requirements NOW.

Denise Johnson was a singer whose vocals were featured by British bands including Primal Scream and New Order.Johnson worked with a number of bands from her hometown of Manchester, England, as well as around the British Isles. Judy Dyble was an English singer-songwriter who was an early member of the influential folk group Fairport Convention.Dyble joined Fairport Convention in the band’s early days, before they recorded their self-titled 1968 debut album. Dyble sang co-lead vocals on the album, including on the band’s first single “If I Had a Ribbon Bow,” and she co-wrote the song “Portfolio.” Dyble left the band after the album’s release and was replaced by Sandy Denny (1947 – 1978).
