NBA star Carmelo Anthony has lined up a new gig voicing a character in the upcoming “Lil’ Heroes” animated series.Anthony and his producing partner Asani Swann, of Creative 7, have also joined the show, from Exile Content and Spanish artist Edgar Plans, as executive producers.The animated series is based on the “Lil’ Heroes” NFT collection. “We are excited to be partnering with Exile on what we believe is one of the most unique and innovative ideas for an animated series in a long time,” Anthony said in a statement. “At Creative 7, we are always looking to support dynamic projects like this that are reinvigorating the traditional content landscape.

Apple TV+ announced on Wednesday it has ordered “Sago Mini Friends,” a new kids animated series based on the award-winning Sago Mini World app. The series for preschoolers is produced by Spin Master Entertainment and animated by Brown Bag Films, based on the characters developed by Sago Mini, including Harvey the floppy-eared dog and his best friends, Jinja the cat, Jack the rabbit, and Robin the bird.

Patrick Frater Asia Bureau ChiefHenry Gilroy (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “The Amazing Spiderman” “How to Train Your Dragon”) has joined animated movie project “Young Captain Nemo” as its producer, showrunner, and screenwriter, as producers Rainshine Entertainment and Malaysia’s Animasia broaden out the venture into a movie series franchise.The project, based on the children’s literature franchise “Young Captain Nemo,” was announced last year with Jeffrey Reddick, screenwriter and creator of the “Final Destination” movie franchise, adapting the books for the screen.The film will be self-produced by Rainshine, and Animasia, which will both invest from their balance sheets and raise money from a wide variety of investors, instead of going to a large film fund or a streaming platform for finance. The budget was not disclosed.  Casting for the voice actors has begun and major names could be settled within three months, ahead of production of the first film which is expected to begin in the fall of this year.
