Ewan McGregor has hinted at a possible return of a Star Wars character he 'loved' working with.
McGregor has been promoting his new show Obi Wan Kenobi, now streaming on Disney+, as he revealed in a recent interview he would put a word in to get Jar Jar Binks back for a project.
The Scottish actor is set to face off against infamous Star Wars villain Darth Vader in the new series, but Jar Jar is the character he would really like to work with again.
"I'd like to meet Jar Jar again," McGregor shared with Vanity Fair about characters he'd want to meet.
"I loved working with Ahmed Best, who played Jar Jar Binks. Maybe we can bring him back."
When McGregor's new Disney+ prequel show was announced, former co-star Best was one of the first to congratulate the Scots actor.
"Congrats my friends. Looking forward to seeing all these wonderful artists on screen," Best tweeted in response to the official announcement that the series had started production.
Despite his well wishes, dedicated fans still had hope Best could return to the series before he shut down the speculation.
In response to a fan, he said: "Thanks for the love, but I will not be in this series. As much as I would've loved to be a part of it. But I'm ecstatic to see folks who I love dearly back together doing great things."
Now, in a recent interview with IMDb, McGregor was probed about the return of Jar Jar Binks seeing as he is an executive producer on the show.
He responded: "Oh I’m sure, yeah! I could probably talk to somebody. But he doesn’t pop up in this one, sadly."
Best's portrayal of Binks might not be in the latest Star Wars instalment, but the door might still be open for a return.

Ewan McGregor has revealed the “rude” criticism he once received about his acting career from Terry Gilliam. In 2010, the Obi-Wan Kenobi star was approached by the director to star in his film The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, which ultimately never reached production. Now, over a decade later, McGregor has told GQ how Gilliam insulted his acting career right to his face.Although he found the director’s comments to be rude, McGregor admitted that it’s rare to be challenged and that his words have stuck with him ever since.Quoting Gilliam, he said: “‘What the fuck have you been doing all this time? You’ve been underplaying everything. What happened to the guy in Trainspotting? What happened to that guy?!’ It was quite rude.

Ewan McGregor didn’t pull any strings for his daughter Esther in landing a role on “Obi-Wan Kenobi”.
While whispers of young Princess Leia coming to the “Star Wars” universe goes back years (we even mentioned it on a podcast last year), it wasn’t really until an “Obi-Wan Kenobi” casting reveal from a few months later that seemed to truly cement the fact we’d see the other Skywalker twin make a return after the passing of Carrie Fisher. Actress Vivien Lyra Blair (“We Can Be Heroes,” “Bird Box “) took over the role after previous attempts from Lucasfilm to use digital versions in “Rogue One” and “The Rise of Skywalker” was met with mixed reactions.
and again in, Rosario Dawson is set to star in her own live-action series on Disney+. The 43-year-old actress will continue to play the Force-sensitive fighter in the upcoming spinoff,, which follows the adventures of the character first established in the animated series . While speaking to ET at Celebration in Anaheim, California, Dawson gushed over being able to be the “literal physical embodiment” of this character, which comes long after fans campaigned for her to bring the role to life onscreen. “I really love being able to not just try to imagine this character to life, you know, [and] to get to take her on physically,” she said.

didn’t wait long to reunite the titular Jedi Master (Ewan McGregor) and Darth Vader (Hayden Christensen). In “Chapter III” of the limited series, the two come face to face as the Sith Lord tracks his former mentor down on the planet Mapuzo, where Ben and a young Princess Leia (Vivien Lyra Blair) ended up after fleeing Daiyu. Ahead of the episode’s debut on Disney+, McGregor teased that the moment “will be a surprise” -- and indeed it was.
Last week, one of the “Star Wars” galaxy’s most beloved characters made his return when “Obi-Wan Kenobi” premiered on Disney+. And Ewan McGregor back onscreen as the Jedi master should be the most newsworthy item from the show’s first two episodes.
Ewan McGregor is speaking out after his co-star, Moses Ingram, has become the subject of racist remarks and comments on social media. In a video posted to the official Twitter account, the 51-year-old actor says he is heartbroken by the “horrendous” messages Ingram has received since the limited series premiered on Disney+. “It seems that some of the fan base, from this influential fan base, have decided to attack Moses Ingram online and send her the most horrendous, racist DMs. And I heard some of them this morning and it just broke my heart,” McGregor says. Ewan McGregor is opening up about his wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead joining the Star Wars franchise.
Disney+’s latest series that’s set a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away (some nine more are coming soon). The first two episodes of the sci-fi drama that dropped Friday don’t suggest the addictive triumph that the first season of “The Mandalorian” was, but the Force is mostly with it. The show takes place 10 years after the events of 2005’s “Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith,” which saw Anakin Skywalker turn into Darth Vader — the OG mask enthusiast.Although the math is confusing, it actually makes sense.
Ewan McGregor hasn't given his wife any advice about joining the 'Star Wars' universe. The 51-year-old actor - who is reprising his role as 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' as the titular character in the new Disney+ series - thinks it is "cool" that Mary Elizabeth Winstead will play an undisclosed role in 'Ahsoka', but he hasn't offered her any tips. He said: “She doesn’t need any advice from me, but it was kind of cool that when it came up and she was starting to think about it – we thought it was amazing to both be in this world together.
