'Everyone is going to struggle apart from the rich' - concerns over how people will pay energy bills

The cost of living has been at the forefront of many people's minds across the country, with yet another energy price cap rise in October set to rock households ahead of winter.
It was revealed at the end of August that the price cap would be rising to £3,549, a leap of 80 per cent from earlier this year and £2,300 more than this time 12 months ago.
With prices for almost everything continuing to rise, we want to know what concerns you have about paying energy bills.

Speaking about their £29 billion plan to freeze energy bills across the UK, Labour leader Keir Starmer claimed that even those on £50,000 would be struggling to pay their energy bills.
It prompted discussion from our readers about paying bills, with one in agreement with Starmer saying: "Perfectly true statement. And a lot will depend on the age of that person and where they live.
"I think the point is - few anticipated having several thousand extra pounds a year suddenly needed and many will struggle to suddenly find it."
Others shared their worries about paying the bills going into winter, with one person commenting: "I am a pensioner who paid into another pension scheme to help me out when retired.
"Now it just pushes me over amount so I can’t claim any of the benefits on offer. How is that right?"
Another reader shared their concerns for the elderly population, saying: "So how do they think the pensioners on less than 8k per year going to manage. Everyone is going to struggle apart from the rich."
