Eurovision 2022 hosts: Meet the Song Contest presenters Mika, Alessandro Cattelan and Laura Pausini

Eurovision Song Contest has returned for another year, bringing with it more musical drama and excitement. So far this year, Russia has been banned from the contest, while Latvia has been stamped with a censorship order and the UK afforded a rare shot at first place in the bookies. Every year, the show is presented by showbiz stalwarts from the hosting nation – and this year is no exception.
This year, the Eurovision Song Contest final will be hosted by Italian television presenter Alessandro Cattelan, Italian singer Laura Pausini and Lebanese-born British singer-songwriter Mika. Being born in Lebanon and brought up in the UK, Mika is not exactly Italian. Nonetheless, the “Grace Kelly” singer is a big hit with Italians, having appeared on the Italian X Factor.
Talking on The One Show, he said: “I have done television in Italy. I learnt to speak Italian just because I got this opportunity to go and do X Factor in Italy. “I learnt in a couple of months.
Luckily, my Italian is better now. The ironic thing about this whole thing is that I’m gonna do Eurovision, the biggest TV show Italy has ever had to put on, and the whole thing is in English. ”In a quote for Eurovision itself, Mika added: “I’ve been watching it since I was a kid.
The whole family would get together for the Grand Final. “Once a year, more than 40 countries share the same emotions, regardless of history or the political situation; music unites them. It’s an exciting honour to be one of the masters of ceremony on these fantastic nights.
