Arriving at Manchester United from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, who won the Champions League five times with Los Blancos, probably expected to come in as a starter. Even if he thought that it would take him a few weeks to settle in, the 30-year-old certainly will not have pictured himself sat on the bench for the Manchester derby in early October.
Casemiro signed for a fee of £60million, rising to £70m from the Spanish giants in August, and has made six appearances for United so far, only starting on one occasion — against Real Sociedad in the Europa League. He has made four substitute appearances in the Premier League, but has been kept out of the starting line-up by Scott McTominay.
The Brazilian defensive midfielder was introduced on the hour mark of the 6-3 humbling defeat by Manchester City on Sunday, with many people confused as to why was not selected to start against Pep Guardiola's side.

Casemiro played in both of Brazil's friendlies during the September internationals, with the matches against Ghana and Tunisia played in France to limit players' travel. Given his impressive form for his country, the decision to omit him from the starting XI proved costly against City, with McTominay struggling against the reigning champions.
Erik ten Hag recently suggested that Casemiro's absence from the Premier League starting XI was down to United's winning run. The Dutchman's decision to stick with a winning side cannot really be questioned, but against City it was obvious that United could have done with some more steel in the centre of the park.
