Emmerdale fans were left in tears on Thursday (11 August) after Marlon Dingle managed to walk down the aisle to marry Rhona Goskirk. Marlon, played by Mark Charnock, suffered a life-threatening stroke earlier this year and has not been able to walk ever since, but he was determined to walk down the aisle on his wedding day.
His plan was looking unlikely during recent episodes however, as he collapsed and was rushed to hospital where he was then held overnight. Marlon was released just in time for his wedding though, and his best pal Paddy (Dominic Brunt) hurled him through the doors of the church in his wheelchair just in time for the ceremony.
In tearful scenes, the pair's wedding guests watched as Marlon stood up and took his first steps since his stroke. He made his way down the aisle to meet Rhona (Zoe Henry) and they soon made their vows, with Rhona telling her now-husband: “I Rhona Muriel Goskirk take thee Marlon Sebastian Dingle to be my husband.
“To have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, and in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, til death us do part.” The couple exchanged rings, and Marlon then declared: “I give you this ring as a sign of our marriage. With my body I honour you, all I have I share with you.” Never miss a celebrity exclusive again! Become an OK!
